The government has announced that the electric vehicle charge point grant for schools will be extended for another year, however, the level of funding has reduced to £2,000 per socket, from £2,500.

Launched in March 2024, the Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions has seen 3,700 sockets installed to date.

The grant aims to boost the chargepoint facilities for staff and visitors, and has the potential to help schools generate revenue by making their chargepoints available to the public.

It is available for state-funded education settings, including schools, colleges, nurseries and academies.
