The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has launched a fully electric simulator van to help its members transition to EV fleets.
Unveiled at the Fowler Welch Driver of the Year event at Donington Park on Tuesday 28 April, the new EV simulator joins an existing diesel unit, reflecting the day-to-day reality faced by operators across the sector, running fleets that span both traditional and emerging technologies as the industry evolves.
Richard Smith, RHA Managing Director, said: "We've introduced it alongside our existing diesel simulator because the reality is simple: operators are managing both worlds right now. And if we're serious about supporting them, we need to reflect that.
"Using the simulator – whether diesel or electric – gives people a genuine feel for the environment drivers operate in every day. And that matters because better understanding leads to better decisions."
The RHA used the Fowler Welch event to put the van into a real-world environment, where drivers, managers and leadership teams could experience it first-hand.
It's about building understanding of driver challenges and starting honest conversations about what the shift to EV means in practice, Smith continued.
"We'll be taking the van out over the coming months, and sharing what we learn along the way."
