SWARCO Smart Charging

SWARCO Smart Charging has been a true pioneer of the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector for more than 13 years when it launched with a simple proposition to supply, install, and maintain EV charge points to support the uptake of ultra-low emission vehicles and the UK’s transition to a new electric future. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength.

It now has more than 12,000 charging points installed for fleet operators, local authorities, and charge point operators (CPOs) across both the public and private sectors in car parks, forecourts and service stations, retail and leisure destinations, and dedicated EV charging hubs and fleet depots across the UK in England, Scotland and Wales. It has also recently started working in Ireland.

SWARCO Smart Charging offers a full range of hardware and software solutions for cars, buses, coaches, and trucks, and provides a complete turn-key solutions from initial consultancy to final installation, as well as providing dedicated service and maintenance support.

Reliability is an essential part of the SWARCO Smart Charging offering. To that end it has invested significantly in not only partnering with the right technology providers, but also in developing its own monitoring and control systems and support infrastructure. This includes a team of more than 30 field service engineers – all of whom drive all-electric vehicles - and who between them help ensure an industry-leading uptime for its charging points of consistently more than 99%.

Reliability is also supported by an ongoing investment in its OCPP back-office software which is constantly being updated with new features to help deliver an even better driver experience.

A key strength also includes having its own dedicated Customer Services Centre to support CPOs in their need to achieve charge point reliability and deliver 24/7 customer support for public sector charge points. Originally opened to support the operation of the ChargePlace Scotland network, SWARCO has since invested significant sums in making the best even better. This even includes providing Welsh language speakers as a specific requirement for Transport for Wales.
