BYD has launched its SEAL U DM-i, a plug-in hybrid SUV which uses the brand’s Super DM Technology that prioritises electric driving with ultra-low fuel consumption and energy efficiency.

Unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show 2024, it will be available to European customers from Q2 2024.

The DM-i (Dual Mode) technology integrates the highly efficient engine, the electric hybrid system, a 'Blade Battery' and the AC/DC On-board Charger. The electric hybrid system at the heart of the car prioritises electric drive with less reliance on the engine for power for optimum efficiencies through ultra-low fuel consumption.

BYD Super DM Technology also features a high-power electric motor and an efficient BYD Blade Battery with pulse heating technology as standard. This technology increases heating efficiency by an additional 10%.

The vehicle measures 4,775 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. The seats can be split 60:40 allowing the 552-litre boot to be increased to 1,440 litres when both seats are folded.

Standard equipment includes ADAS, intelligent driver assistance with a multitude of features, with active and passive functionality. The latest BYD Super DM Technology has an ultra-strong body with omni-directional collision energy absorption enhancing overall structural protection.

The BYD SEAL U DM-i also has VTOL as standard allowing external devices to be conveniently charged or powered by the car battery, when out on journeys.
