Germany approves technical fix for VW Caddy 1.6 TDI

News

The proposed technical fix for the Volkswagen (VW) Caddy 1.6 TDI model has been approved by Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA).

The Caddy 1.6 TDI was affected by the diesel issue revealed last year, in which a defeat device was installed in some VW diesel engines to cheat emissions test, meaning that engines were emitting over the legal limits.

The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brand has now launched the process of applying the technical fix to all affected models, with goal of fixing the emissions issues without changing fuel consumption values, performance data or noise emissions.

The KBA has confirmed that this has been achieved for the 2016 Caddy 4 1.6 TDI with a manual gearbox and an N1 commercial registration and all affected customers will now be informed as asked to make an appointment with an authorised repairer. VW says that customers will not incur any additional costs for the fix.
