Mitie has welcomed its 5,000th electric vehicle (EV), meaning two thirds of their fleet is now electric.

The vehicle, a Volkswagen ID Buzz, was unveiled at its Shard headquarters and will be used by mobile engineers working across Mitie’s government contracts in London.

Mitie is a strategic outsourcing and energy services company that provides infrastructure consultancy, facilities management, property management, energy and healthcare services to clients.

They are aiming to create a zero-emission fleet by the end of 2025.

Heidi Thompson, Group Fleet Manager, Mitie, said: "This landmark reflects how far we’ve come since our EV journey started in 2020, as one of only a handful of British businesses to achieve this success.

The vehicle will be used by its National Maintenance Network team, playing a crucial role for mobile engineers carrying equipment and travelling between government sites across the Capital.

Along with deploying electric vehicles, Mitie has also installed over 3,000 charge points across its colleagues’ homes and customer sites.
