Engine ‘detox’ firm wins Green Apple Award

News

Engine cleaning company EDT Automotive has won the Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice, after developing a cleaning method that reduces emissions by an average of 63.5 per cent.

The cleaning process is described as a detox for the engine, and acts to clean petrol or diesel engines in less than 15 minutes, resulting in up to half a litre of ‘black sludge’ being removed.

The method produces huge benefits in emissions and power performance, restoring the engine’s statistics to something resembling the figures quoted when new. EDT claims that fuel economy could be increased by up to 20 per cent, power up to 6 bhp and a torque increase of up to 7 lb ft.

Figures revealed that a dramatic reduction in emissions can be achieved, along with a 96 per cent reduction in carbon monoxide emissions for a five year old Mazda with a petrol engine. Tests also found that a 2003 Jaguar X-Type’s emissions were reduced by 89 per cent, while a 2007 VW Golf 2.0 diesel saw its emissions reduced by 67 per cent following the cleaning process.

Managing director of EDT Automotive David Holmes said at the award presentation at the Houses of Parliament: "For a small company like us to win a Green Apple Award is just fantastic. With vehicle manufacturers scrambling to reassure the public and even their own dealers that their emissions figures can be trusted, EDT offers a practical solution. Our award-winning engine detox is proven to dramatically cut harmful emissions, providing a valuable new revenue stream for workshops and real world benefits that drivers can see and feel."
