Volkswagen in early talks with solar company

Volkswagen and SMA Solar are considering working together as VW pushes forward with electric car plans.

SMA Solar makes inverters designed for home storage systems. A spokeswoman from the company would not comment on the specifics, saying: "It's way too soon, there is nothing yet that we can say. When things are ready, we will announce them with VW."

The company is already working with carmakers Daimler and Tesla on storage technology.

A spokesman at VW's Wolfsburg headquarters declined comment.

Volkswagen has ambitious electric vehicle plans following the diselgate scandal. It plans to invest billions of euros in zero-emission vehicles and on-demand mobility services and aims to launch more than 30 electric cars by 2025.
