Brake relay issue leads to Nissan Leaf recall

News

Over 47,000 Nissan Leafs are reportedly being recalled in North America due to a brake relay issue.

Electric Cars Report has said that the malfunction means that the relay inside the electronic brake boosters may freeze in very cold temperatures.

While no accidents or injuries have been reported to Nissan, if the brake relay fails it could lead to longer stopping distances or require the driver to exert additional effort, increasing the risk of a crash.

The recall will cover 46,859 Leafs in the U.S. and another 679 in Canada, which were sold between 2013 and 2015. Nissan will notify owners and dealerships in due course.
