Met Police trial EVs in Greenwich, Bexley and Westminster
The Metropolitan Police has begun trialling a new fleet of electric vehicles across Greenwich, Bexley and Westminster.
The new fleet of BMW i3 Range Extenders was unveiled outside Scotland Yard in December 2015 and a six-month trial period has now commenced.
The vehicles will be subject to standard testing and evaluation by the Met, and officers will report back on their experience using the low-emission vehicles for regular patrolling duties.
Terry Hunt, director of centrally delivered support services in the Met, said: "The i3 is a brilliant fit with the technology-driven approach of the Met.
"As an organisation we are committed to keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible and innovative pilots such as this provide us with real-time experience of how that might be achieved."
