Chargemaster begins Milton Keynes Go Ultra Low Cities infrastructure programme

The first electric vehicle charging points for the Milton Keynes Go Ultra Low Cities infrastructure programme have been installed at the head office and UK distribution centre of Carlton Packaging.

It has operated in Milton Keynes for more than 22 years.

The four Chargemaster 7kW fast chargers, providing eight dedicated EV charging points, are already in daily use by the company’s vehicles, enabling them to be charged at work before they are used to travel to client meetings.

Carlton packaging director, Alan Magee, said: “We recognise the need for sustainable development and continually aim to improve the environmental effect of our activities. We are focused on reducing our emissions, which led us to introduce electric vehicles into our fleet, and installing EV charging points allows us to get the maximum environmental benefit from them.

“Following Milton Keynes becoming one of the UK’s first Go Ultra Low Cities, and the opening of our latest 65,000 square-foot distribution centre, we were keen to work with Milton Keynes Council to become one of the first companies to offer workplace charging to our employees.”

Carlton Packaging designs and supplies smart packaging materials and processes for fulfilment operations throughout Europe, having first set up a distribution centre in Milton Keynes in 1994.

David Martell, CEO of Chargemaster, added: “Workplace charging plays an important role in helping reduce emissions from fleet, visitor and employee vehicles, and we encourage all local businesses to look at how they can support electric vehicle usage.

“We have seen a dramatic expansion in the number of businesses looking to install charging points at their premises, and any business not already investigating them will soon feel left behind.”
