Emissions Analytics launches NOx rating scheme

News

A new NOx rating scheme has been announced by Emissions Analytics to help consumers, policy makers and vehicle manufacturers better understand the real-world NOx emissions from new cars.

The new initiative is set to launch in 2016 and aims to help buyers clearly identify which cars produce the lowest quantities of harmful pollutants.

The scheme will measure NOx emissions of passenger cars in real world driving conditions, which is intended to complement the forthcoming Real Driving Emissions regulations for new vehicle certification.

Emissions Analytics claims that the initiative will allow manufacturers to demonstrate their vehicles’ clean credentials, and provide data to policymakers on progress in the drive to improve air quality.

A number of experts have been brought together from Cambridge University, Imperial College London, and King’s College London to provide input into the development of the scheme.

Emissions Analytics has said that the ratings will be published and publicly available for all, including manufacturers, consumers, local and national governments, and fleet operators.
