Tesla unveils the Model X SUV

After a series of delays, Tesla has finally unveiled its first all-electric SUV, the Model X.

The vehicle was officially launched at 4am Wednesday 30 September (UK time), with the initial batch of six finished Signature Editions handed over to pre-order customers at an event outside Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California.

The Signature Edition comes with a range of 240 miles, a top speed of 155 mph and is capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds.

Standard features for the Model X include ‘Falcon Wing’ doors, maps and navigation with real time traffic, power-folding and heated side mirrors and automatic keyless entry.

The official base pricing has not yet ben released, but it is expected to cost around $132,000. Prospective buyers can reserve a car for $5,000, with deliveries expected in early 2016.
