Volkswagen recalls e-Golf across the US

News

Volkswagen has confirmed the recall of thousands of its e-Golf vehicles sold in the US due to stalling issues.

The recall stems from complaints of vehicles stalling unexpectedly, which is reportedly linked to the car’s battery management system inadvertently classifying a brief internal electrical current surge as a critical battery condition. This causes the battery to shut down, thus deactivating the motor.

The details of the recall were revealed by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which clarified that the issue could lead to an increased risk of crashing.

The recall relates to 5,561 vehicles shipped to the US, including 157 yet to be sold. The fix is reportedly relatively simple, involving an update to the cars’ battery management system.
