BMW battery to increase electric range to 430 miles

BMW is set to invest 200 million euros into advanced battery technology in order to increase the range of its plug-in models.

As reported by Next Green Car, BMW will invest in a Battery Competence Centre, due to open in Munich in 2019.

It aims to support electric-mobility strategy and will look at new battery technologies and how to put them into production.

New systems will help with BMW's fifth-generation electric powertrain, already in development and expected in 2021

Developments for the new electric drivetrain is expected to extend the range of pure-electric models to more than 430 miles, and its PHEV models to over 60 miles.
