The German carmaker Porsche AG is expecting to launch its first purely electric sports car in the next two years.

The Mission E model will be unveiled in 2019 and available in China from about 2020 and is part of a plan to meet the demands of the electric vehicle sector.

Franz Jung, president and CEO of Porsche China, believes the new car will meet customer’s high expectation and will “be competitive in the electric car segment”.

Porsche is also selling two plug-in hybrid models in China, which is the Cayanne S E-Hybrid and the Panamera 4 E-Hybdird Executive.

Jung added: "We have many other goals as well. We want to be profitable, we want our dealers to be profitable and we want our customers to be happy."
