Peugeot to launch new EV by 2019, AutoRai reports

In an interview with AutoRai, Jérôme Micheron, Head of Brand Strategy & Product Planning, claimed that Peugeot is set to launch a dedicated EV within the next three years.

Micheron also claimed a plug-in hybrid version will also be available, equipped with a small gasoline engine and offering pure-electric range of about 50 kilometres.

Although Micheron gave no further details, it has been speculated that the EV will be similar to the Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf or Renault Zoe. However, autoevolution has reported that the new car is expected to be based on the EMP2 platform used by the Peugeot 308.
