News

Toyota has announced that it will no longer be selling diesel cars in Europe, and is beginning to phase them out this year.

As reported by Punch, Johan Van Zyl, Toyota Motor Europe president said that “diesel will be phased out in our passenger cars in 2018”.

He went on to say that the company will no longer develop new diesel technology for passenger cars and will continue to focus on hybrid vehicles.

Last year nearly 15 percent of Toyota’s sales in Europe were from diesel vehicles, down from 30 percent in 2012.

Meanwhile, sales of Toyota’s hybrid models have risen sharply.
