Elektrobay: the recharging market leader
Elektromotive Ltd, the Brighton based company specialising in the research, design and manufacture of electric vehicle recharging stations continues with its rapid growth. Formed 4 years ago, the company’s “Elektrobay” recharging post has become a market leader with its technically advanced leading edge operating system and clean, ergonomic design.
Managing director, Calvey Taylor-Haw says: “The Elektrobay is secure and extremely user friendly, offering a safe, dedicated power outlet for new and existing battery technology.” He goes on to say: “The Elektrobay can easily be integrated into the network with ease and is available in almost any colour the customer requires. The bespoke software can be configured in many different ways offering the integrator numerous options when deciding how to charge the EV users for electricity they use. For example, the Elektrobay has an integrated GSM module enabling EV users to pay for the electricity they use by mobile phone text or to be directly billed to them. This may well, in the future, be part of their domestic electricity bill.
“When the Elektrobay is powered by renewable energy the electric vehicle it charges will be totally free of C02 emissions. Even when an EV is powered by a mix of renewable and conventionally generated electricity, it will be around 50 per cent greener than an equivalent sized petrol or diesel fuelled vehicle, and this takes into consideration the green house gasses produced during the car’s manufacture.
Whilst on the subject of C02 emissions, the Elektrobay is 95 per cent recyclable, being mainly made of high grade aluminum. Calvey Taylor-Haw stated that he hoped to increase this to around 98 per cent in the near future. The Elektrobay’s carbon footprint is pretty small too, with all of the design and manufacturing process being carried out within a 50 mile radius of Brighton. The only manufactured component which has to travel any distance is the Elektrobay’s casing, which is made in Manchester. Also, due to the clever modular design, our servicing strategy is to replace any faulty or damaged units with refurbished Elektrobays so waste is kept to almost zero. There are exciting times ahead for Elektromotive. “We have just signed a joint initiative contract with a major player in the world energy market. This will enable us to roll out the Elektrobay throughout the U.K. in significant numbers at subsidised cost to the integrator during the coming months,” says Calvey Taylor-Haw. Elektromotive will be a company to watch over the next couple of years. For more information www.elektromotive.com
