Extra funding for smarter driver training

The cost of smarter driver training from the Energy Saving Trust has been brought down to £15, thanks to extra DfT funding.

The training sessions, delivered by DriveSense, teach business drivers practical techniques that can save a considerable amount of fuel, money and carbon emissions. Reduced from £25 per person, the new discounted price of £15+VAT is confirmed until 31 March 2010 for organisations in England.

On average, the Energy Saving Trust has seen a 15.1 per cent reduction in fuel consumption after training. For a typical car doing 12k miles, this would equate to £200-250 per year.

The training sessions start and finish from a company's own premises and take under an hour for each driver. Each DriveSense instructor is accredited by the Energy Saving Trust.
