Outstanding Achievement Award

Winner: Malcolm Noyle Malcolm Noyle has been dedicated to the low carbon green fleet industry since the very first CNG van was introduced to the UK over a decade ago, and was campaigning for low carbon fleet vehicles long before it was seen as a major fleet issue. He has been recognised in the Fleet industry as one of the founders of the low carbon fleet movement and many of the predictions he made are now part of Government and fleet policy. Noyle started his low carbon career when he was tasked with managing and developing the LPG programme for Vauxhall Motors/GM. He then went on to work with the LPG industry to raise the standards for LPG installations and create awareness of the benefits of LPG to the UK fleet sector. Even today he is known for supporting the use of gaseous fuels for appropriate fleet applications. He was one of the Team Leaders responsible for introducing the UK's leading risk management tool dedicated to the reduction of accidents and loss of life amongst the fleet industry. At the same time he created the Clean Fleet Alliance, one of the first successful collaborations between the leasing industry, the fuel industry and alternative fuel companies. In addition Noyle has dedicated much of his time to organisations such as the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, where he gave two years service and still chairs the fleet sub group. He also works with CENEX (Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies) and champions many low carbon initiatives through his work with the fleet sector. Since its relaunch in 2005, Malcolm has also been a regular columnist for GreenFleet magazine, commenting on government legislation, tax issues and the green vehicle industry in general. If it were possible to calculate the amount of CO2 that Malcom Noyle is directly responsible for saving, we are sure it would indeed be a staggering figure, and he is a worthy recipient of the 2008 GreenFleet Outstanding Achievement Award.
